Introduction

 

Stainless steel balls are usually produced by forging processes. At this stage, the commonly used stainless steel balls are made of 201, 302, 304, 316, 316L, 420, and 440C.

Definition: Steel that contains more than 12% chromium and is resistant to chemical substances.

Principle: Stainless steel does not rust, but it is not easy to rust.

 

The principle is that by the addition of chromium elements, a dense chromium oxide layer is formed on the surface of the steel, which can effectively block the re-contact between the steel and the air, so that the oxygen in the air cannot enter the steel, thereby achieve the effect of preventing steel from rusting.

 

Classification: China National Standards (CNS), Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) and American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) use three digits to indicate different stainless steels and are widely cited by industry offices. Among them, 200 series are chromium-nickel-manganese series Austenitic stainless steel, 300 series is chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, 400 series chromium stainless steel (commonly known as stainless iron), including martensite and ferrite.

Stainless steel ball 440

 

Application:

  440C stainless steel balls are usually used in industries that require high precision and anti-rust performance such as aviation, aerospace, bearings, motors, high-precision instruments, valves, and petroleum.

 

Features:

  The metallographic structure belongs to the martensitic steel, and the production process requirements are relatively high. There are relatively few domestic companies that can produce stainless steel 440C, so the companies that can produce 440C materials are often dubbed the reputation of special stainless steel. The heat treatment process is more complicated, easy to crack, and requires high precision. It is the hardest stainless steel ball among steel balls: HRC≧58. The hardness is close to the bearing steel ball, but it has stronger anti-rust and anti-corrosion performance than the former.

 

Comparison:

   Compared with 440 stainless steel ball, it has stronger anti-rust and anti-corrosion performance, the hardness is increased, and the wear resistance is also improved.
