Introduction

E52100 chrome steel balls are used in the ball and roller bearing industry and various automotive applications. These chrome steel balls have excellent surface quality. Through quenching, they have excellent wear resistance, high hardness and high load carrying capacity.
Production Process
1. Wire Drawing
Each batch of raw material steel is inspected and classified according to different material (carbon, stainless, chrome), size and quantity, which marked with the Material Cert. The qualified steel comes to the quarantine area; the unqualified will be rejected with a record.
Then the steel is made into different sizes according to the needed requirements.
2. Cold Heading
The raw material certified is worked on high-speed casting machines to cast into different size pieces.
3. Ball Flashing
This step of the production process involves rolling the pieces between discs with concentric grooves to eliminate signs of casting and to increase the precision of the ball.
4. Heat Treatment
Heat treatment, where necessary, gives the balls the maximum possible hardness and the best technical characteristics that can be achieved with the materials used.
5. Hard Grinding
Successively several careful grinding processes using ceramic grinding wheels give greater dimensional precision and prepare the balls the next, final lapping process.
6. Lapping
This procedure gives the ball a perfectly shiny, compact and defect-free surface, with very low surface roughness, much lower than that required under GB/308-2002
7. Cleaning
Remove the oil stains on the surface of the steel ball , make the steel ball cleaner and brighter.
8. Selecting and Final Inspection
The sorting machines together with the manual detecting and modern testing processes, largely ensures the high quality of our products.
9. Packaging
Pack products according to customer needs.

Modern furnaces with precisely controlled atmospheres and temperatures are used for heat treating to assure uniform hardness and proper microstructure for each steel ball.
High Hardness
Ball hardness is controlled within the 60-63 HRC range as measured on parallel flat surfaces.

Bearing balls are used in automotive applications, for semi-precision bearings, and in commercial applications.
Weldability
Because this material has 1% carbon, it does not weld well. It can be resistance welded with difficulty. It can be soft soldered with a high tin solder using an acid flux. It can be silver soldered or brazed; but the heat will cause distortion of the ball and a loss of hardness. For light load applications, the ball can be attached with an adhesive such as epoxy. When adhesive bounding is used, an area on the ball should be roughed up by etching or abrasive blasting. The area should be thoroughly cleaned.
