Introduction
Chrome steel 52100 is a versatile material for many applications. The chromium steel ball contains high chromium, and has excellent surface quality and high bearing capacity due to being quenched. Throughout the manufacturing process, statistical process control can ensure tolerance accuracy, good surface finish and consistent high quality.
On the basis of GCr15 steel, the content of Si and Mn is appropriately increased to improve its hardenability and elastic limit, and its wear resistance is also better than that of GCr15. The applicable size range for manufacturing rolling elements is larger than that of GCr15.
This steel can meet the processing requirements under general working conditions. The brand numbers of ordinary high-carbon chromium bearing steel are GCr15 and GCr15SiMn. The performance of these two types of bearings is basically the same. But the hardenability of GCr15SiMn is better than GCr15, so GCr15SiMn is used for relatively large bearing parts.
Because GCr15SiMn has high crack sensitivity and low impact resistance, it cannot fully meet the requirements of thick-walled bearings and mining bearings. Therefore, the railway department does not allow the use of CGr15SiMn on passenger car bearings. It is also limited to thick-walled rolling mills and mining machinery under large and compact loads.
