Description
The basic quality requirements of bearing steel are purity and uniform organization. Purity means less impurity elements and non-metal impurities, and a uniform structure means that the carbides in the steel should be fine and uniformly distributed. There are high requirements on the quality of bearing steel smelting, and the content and distribution of sulfur, phosphorus and non-metallic inclusions must be strictly controlled, because the content and distribution of non-metallic inclusions have a great impact on the life of bearing steel. The higher the inclusion content, the shorter the life span. To improve the quality of smelting, electric furnace smelting and electroslag remelting have recently been used, and new processes such as vacuum smelting and vacuum consumable refining can also be used to improve the quality of bearing steel.
High-carbon chromium bearing steel refers to high-carbon alloy steel with a chromium content of 1.40-1.65%. Its characteristics such as microstructure after heat treatment is relatively uniform and stable, good wear resistance, high stress fatigue strength, good dimensional stability and wear resistance.
Most bearing rings and rolling elements are made of special steel. High-carbon chromium bearing steel (GCr15 and GCr15SiMn and ZGCr15 and ZGCr15SiMn) are used to manufacture ferrules and rolling elements with high hardness.
Bearings made of high-carbon steel chromium bearing steel are generally suitable for operating temperature in the range of -40 to 130 degrees, and oil and grease lubrication is normal. It can meet the requirements of general machinery. After the high-carbon chromium bearing steel bearing parts are tempered at high temperature, the working temperature can be as high as 250 degrees.
High-carbon chromium bearing steel is a large type of bearing steel, and is the most commonly used steel for manufacturing bearings and bearing parts. The most commonly used high carbon chromium bearing steels are GCr15 and GCr15SiMn, the former of which is the most used in my country's bearing industry.

GCr15 bearing steel is widely used to manufacture spindle bearings, railway bearings,engine bearings, machine tools bearings, mining machinery bearings, general machinery bearings etc.
GCr15SiMn bearing steel is mainly used to manufacture thick wall bearings, such as large and extra large size bearings, used in heavy machinery and rolling mill machinery.
