Introduction
High-carbon chromium bearing steel is a high-carbon alloy steel with a chromium content of 1.40~1.65%. Its characteristics are more uniform and stable structure after heat treatment, high hardness, high uniformity, good wear resistance, high contact fatigue strength, good dimensional stability after annealing, corrosion resistance, good cutting performance, and relatively cheap price. This steel can meet the bearing requirements under normal operating conditions.
Chrome steel ball, as the main part of bearing, are being widely used on the application like automotive industry, motors, home appliances, instruments, hardwares etcs.
Balls used in valves usually require close control of roundness and surface finish to insure leak-tight operation.
GCr15:
1. The residual copper content (melting analysis) of the steel for bearing steel pipes should not exceed 0.2%.
2. The oxygen content is measured on the billet or steel.
3. The sulfur content (melting analysis) of wire rod steel should not exceed 0.02%.
Surface Qualities
Surface Roughness: Surface roughness consists of all those irregularities which form surface relief and which are conventionally defined within the area where deviations of form and waviness are eliminated.
Waviness: The more widely spaced circumferential component of surface texture.
